Abstract: The present paper examines contemporary women’s Urdu literature to explore how women writers articulate their consciousness of self, identity, and social position. It argues that this literature transcends the expression of personal experiences to become a critical engagement with the structures of patriarchy, social injustice, and gender inequality. Through themes such as self-awareness, the assertion of rights, love, deprivation, resistance, and political and social concerns at national and global levels, women writers challenge prevailing assumptions about women’s lives and identities. The paper foregrounds the significance of this literary expression as a means of understanding women’s experiences in both public and private spheres and of examining the social structures that shape them from a feminist perspective.
Keywords. Contemporary Urdu Literature, Women’s Writing, Feminist Consciousness, Gender Identity, Patriarchy, Gender Inequality, Women’s Resistance, Social Injustice.
